Artist's Statement:

"I'm interested in pointing out the little things in life, through my paintings. I hope to invite the viewer into my paintings and for them to get everything they can from the visit.

I have had the opportunity to live and visit many beautiful places in my life. Living in Illinois, England, Indiana, Michigan (3 times), Iowa, and Georgia has provided an endless source of subjects and sources of inspiration for me. Travel to Quebec and France frequently has also contributed material for my work.

The point of my artwork is to help people really see the deep beauty in simple things they encounter daily through effective balance of color, detail, technique and composition. Skipping through life isn't good enough. People should take a few moments with my paintings and walk a bit slower.

'Do you see how this shadow carries you into this scene? Do you love the way the color reflects on its surroundings? Have you noticed the way the sunlight dances into the tree leaves?'

All this happens when a person takes the time to enjoy the little things. Hopefully my paintings can help the viewer develop their ability to see beauty that is often hidden in haste." -- Marlee Hoffman
